Geneva / Switzerland, February 16, 2017 -
Kempinski AG is taking a further step in strengthening its long-term corporate strategy to position itself as an independent European luxury hotel management group.

The two owners of Kempinski AG have formalized existing share swap plans with effect from today. The majority stake in Kempinski AG will in future be held by the existing shareholders from Bahrain, while the Thai shareholders will hold a minority stake. Both shareholders remain committed to Kempinski AG and its long-term success.

"In an industry that is consolidating more and more, we feel very privileged that our shareholders' commitment to continue Kempinski AG as a private company has now been formalized," says Markus Semer, CEO of Kempinski AG. "This is a clear competitive advantage and makes it easier for us to continue to run Kempinski as an independent European luxury hotel management group."

In accordance with the shareholders' agreement, a new supervisory board was also appointed. The members of the Supervisory Board include His Excellency Abdulla H. Saif as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Chumpol Na LamLieng as Vice Chairman, and Ms. Chonpreya Pacharaswate, Mr. Aymen T. Almoayed, Mr. Robert HJJ Timmers and Mr. Yann Caillère.

This decision comes at a time when Kempinski is preparing for its 120th anniversary on April 5, 2017 and the Gran Hotel Manzana welcomes Kempinski La Habana Cuba as the newest prestige hotel in its portfolio.
