Munich, July 31, 2017 -
Co-working area and chill-out lounge: Innovative hotel lobby concepts are quickly spreading among the new lifestyle hotel chains. Treugast analyzed the most spectacular hotel lobby ideas. Six selected examples show how hotels with architectural requirements and different concepts convince.

Michelberger Hotel in Berlin

Michelberger Hotel in Berlin: hotel or living room?
The Michelberger Hotel in Friedrichshain is a hip design hotel and is reminiscent of a huge residential community. It is very "Berlin" and convinces with creativity and sets itself apart from the competition with a rebellious and somewhat rough style. A casual atmosphere dominates in the lobby - books and magazines are omnipresent: they integrate into the furniture in lampshades and room parts. The lobby unites reception, café and library in one. At Berlin's probably roundest reception counter, guests feel like they are in a living room. "The lobby of the Michelberger Hotel manages to bring people in a trendy café atmosphere into formal and informal contact. With internet access and a work area, the lobby invites you to linger - whether privately or professionally, ”says Moritz Dietl, CEO of Treugast.

The Qvest Cologne - lobby The Qvest Cologne - lobby

The Qvest in Cologne: sacred atmosphere meets design classics and modern art
The neo-Gothic entrance area of The Qvest in Cologne impresses with high walls, ribbed vaults and pointed arches. “The building was built in 1867 and used to house the Cologne City Archives. Today, the imposing entrance hall has been converted into a hotel lobby and is particularly impressive due to the six-meter-high vaulted ceilings, ”said Moritz Dietl. The hotel in the heart of Cologne is a total work of art and combines historical architecture with works of art from the past two centuries: Barcelona chairs by Mies van der Rohe from the 1950s and contemporary works of art on the walls. “Guests at The Qvest don't find a cozy lounge that invites them to linger like a living room in the entrance area - the lobby stands on its own and is the figurehead for the entire hotel. The Tecta Lounge, on the other hand, offers visitors and hotel guests enough space. However, like the entrance area, it is furnished in a modern style and has six-meter high ceilings, ”adds Moritz Dietl. If you like the interior, you can buy the designer items in the shop of the same name.

Radisson Blu Berlin - lobby Radisson Blu Berlin - lobby

Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin: Everything revolves around the underwater world
The Radisson Blu Hotel in Berlin, which is located near Alexanderplatz, has a really spectacular hotel lobby. When entering the five-star hotel, a gigantic 25 meter high aquarium creates a wow effect: the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world with over 1,500 exotic fish and a million liters of salt water rises in the middle of the atrium. After check-in, guests drive up a glass elevator through the middle of the aquarium. At the foot of the water basin, a bar invites you to linger. Seating and reception counters are arranged around the aquarium. A special highlight of the Radisson Blue Lobby: from some rooms you have a view of the many different saltwater fish at any time of the day.

ME London by Melia - Atrium ME London by Melia - Atrium

ME London by Melia: unique and promising
Check-in inside a pyramid? The ME by Melia in London welcomes its guests into a pyramid-shaped room. A light show flickers on the white marble walls. The interior is black and white. In the middle is a book that shows a quote from Aristotle. “The lobby is very futuristic and clear. The game is played with light effects and darkness - the projection onto the black walls means that the motifs can be constantly changed. Returning guests always experience something new here, the arrival becomes an experience, ”explains Moritz Dietl. The concept of ME by Melia in London comes from the renowned London architecture firm Forster & Partner.

Reichshof Hamburg Curio Collection by Hilton - lobby Reichshof Hamburg Curio Collection by Hilton - lobby

Reichshof Hamburg: mix of monument protection and design
The Reichshof Hamburg Curio Collection by Hilton is located in a historic building that is a listed building. The Reichshof Hamburg opened its doors in 1910 and was considered one of the leading Grand Hotels. After the reopening in 2015, the impressive hotel lobby shines in the Art Deco style of the Golden Twenties. According to the analysts of the TREUGAST Solutions Group, the hotel hall with its large floor space combines several elements: reception, lounge and meeting areas as well as the EMIL'S Bistro. Modern design, such as pink chandeliers, sets the tone in the marble column hall.

Kameha Grand Bonn - lobby Kameha Grand Bonn - lobby

Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn: lobby in neo-baroque
The entrance hall of the Kameha Grand Hotel on the banks of the Rhine in Bonn bears the signature of the Dutch interior designer Marcel Wanders. He plays with proportions as well as colors and exudes love of life. Moritz Dietl: “The guest at the Kameha Grand Hotel Bonn is looking in vain for a large reception. Instead of a bar, there are many small standing tables where employees welcome guests. The bar and the generous leather sofas that make the lobby a meeting place are all the more spacious. ”
