Eschborn am Taunus / Vienna, October 04, 2017 -
At Best Western Hotels Central Europe, the Hotel Development department is starting with a new structure and additional personnel to drive expansion in the ten countries of Germany, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary to be able to offer existing hotels an even better service. As Head of Hotel Development and Hotel Services, Andreas Westerburg is responsible for the entire department, which includes the individual areas of hotel development, quality management, hotel support, the Best Western Academy and the regional office in Vienna, which is managed by Ivona Meissner. Westerburg continues to report directly to Marcus Smola, Managing Director of Best Western Hotels Central Europe.

The team in the Hotel Development division will be joined by Alexander Teichert, who is responsible for the hotel development division, and Jörg Englerth, who is responsible for the quality assurance division. “On the one hand, with the new solution, we are even better able to meet the increasing demands of hotel support. On the other hand, we take into account the increasing demand from hotels for a brand connection and can drive the expansion of our brand more effectively. The specialist knowledge of three very experienced employees will be efficiently combined in the current structure, ”explains Marcus Smola, Managing Director of Best Western Hotels Central Europe, the restructuring.

As Director Hotel Development and Hotel Services, Andreas Westerburg is now responsible for the entire department. As in his previous position, he continues to be responsible for expanding the hotel portfolio, introducing new hotel brands and expanding relationships with hotel investors, developers and hotel management companies. Before joining Best Western Hotels Central Europe, Westerburg had, among other things, driven the expansion for SRS Worldhotels in Europe and accompanied the market launch of NH Hotels in Central Europe and Italy. Most recently, he was responsible for the market entry of various brands as a sales director at Hilton in Central and Northern Europe.

In addition to Andreas Westerburg, Alexander Teichert, as the new director of hotel development, is responsible for the successful expansion of the hotel portfolio with a focus on individual hotels. He started his career at Best Western in 2009 as a sales director for business and group travel. From 2013 until today he was responsible for strategic partnerships in the corporate and MICE segments. Before joining Best Western, Teichert was Director of Corporate Sales at InterContinental in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Ivona Meissner, as director of the Vienna regional office, is responsible for expansion in Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Hungary. As Director Quality Assurance, Jörg Englerth is now responsible for quality management and advice for existing hotels and leads the team of quality inspectors. Englerth is also a familiar face at Best Western: 16 years ago, the trained hotel manager started as Marketing Director Tourism and most recently worked as Senior Manager Quality Assurance and Member Support. Previously, he worked as a product manager at what was then the Radisson SAS Hotel Schloss Fleesensee. The focus of his newly won task is on the care of existing Best Western Hotels.
